Soft Tissue Therapy

Soft Tissue Therapy is used by individuals for a variety of reasons. Some use it alongside conventional medical care to help manage or cope with a specific physical, mental or emotional problem. Others may use it for relaxation or for a sense of general wellbeing.

Soft Tissue Therapy can improve an individual's mood, relieve tension, anxiety and stress, it can also aid sleep. Many athletes have massages whilst competing or in training. This helps athletes to stay in optimal condition and helps to aid recovery.

There is expanding evidence that suggests that massages might be effective in helping to support those with certain chronic conditions such as low back pain.

In guidelines produced by the national Institute for Health and care Excellence (NICE), soft tissue techniques such as massage are recommended for managing low back pain, alongside exercise.

Individuals with an existing medical condition,  those taking medication and those who are pregnant or breast feeding should consult their GP, Midwife or other health care professional before having Soft Tissue Therapy.
